Mecautil and Dynamics UPC Manresa: CNC machining for the DYN-10

Dynamics UPC Manresa finished the 2024-2025 season as national Formula Student champions. This summer they will compete with the DYN-10, their first electric single-seater. Inside it, there are parts made at Mecautil's workshop.

Dynamics UPC Manresa is a team of engineering students from the Escola Politècnica Superior de Manresa (UPC) who design and build a competition single-seater from scratch every year to compete in Formula Student, one of the most demanding engineering competitions in the world. They finished the 2024-2025 season as national champions, ranked 63rd in the world among more than 400 teams. This summer they will compete with the DYN-10, their first electric single-seater. Inside it, there are parts made at Mecautil’s workshop.

An order that left no room for error

The Base Pedal Box is the structure that anchors the pedal system to the chassis of the single-seater. A part subjected to repeated loads, constant vibrations and the technical homologation requirements of Formula Student. The Manresa team designed it in 7075-T6 aluminium — the same alloy used in aeronautical components — because they needed maximum strength at minimum weight. The finished part weighs 0.692 kg.

Dynamics came to Mecautil with the CAD drawings and technical specifications. The geometry of the part — a lattice structure with lightening pockets, multiple anchor points and tight assembly tolerances — required CNC milling to ensure every dimension matched exactly what the team had calculated.

Formula Student does not forgive manufacturing errors

Formula Student is one of the most demanding university engineering competitions in the world. Every single-seater goes through rigorous technical inspections before it can run on track. A part that does not meet tolerances does not just fail the inspection — it can compromise the safety of the driver.

Dynamics knows this well. At the 2024 Dutch edition they were the first to pass the mechanical inspection, and they ended the season as the best Iberian team at Formula Student Spain. That level of results is not achieved without suppliers who work to the same standard of precision as the team itself.

Proximity that shows in the result

Manresa and Canovelles are less than 40 kilometres apart. That closeness allows for direct contact with the technical team — no intermediaries, no unnecessary delays.

This summer it will show on track

The parts are already in Manresa, where the Dynamics team is now integrating the DYN-10 components ahead of the 2025-2026 season. This summer, the single-seater will race at European Formula Student circuits with Mecautil’s logo on the car and their parts inside it.

The results of the previous season make Dynamics one of the most closely watched teams in the competition. Seeing how far the DYN-10 goes this summer is also seeing how far the work done at the workshop can reach.

From Mecautil, we will be following every race. Good luck to the Dynamics team.
